In this video we look at the US Federal Reserve's senior loan officer survey and how a couple of key indicators in that report spell it out for the outlook for stocks and the economy. Specifically, the video walks you through a couple of slides of a recent edition of the Weekly Macro Themes report. In the video we talk through 4 key charts: lending standards and the stock market, loan pricing and junk bonds, lending standards and outlook for credit growth, and household lending standards and the link with the job market outlook. The key charts are those last 2 which present what seems to be a contradictory picture of potentially accelerating credit growth and a further slowdown in jobs growth. The latter is certainly cause for some concern, and merits close monitoring. However, as noted in the discussion, there is a possibility that both are right and it may just be part of a broader theme.
